The Minikin rarely hear new stories. For as long as they have known, they have been cut off from the apparently vast world beyond Lockheart Manor. The Minikin do, however, have access to Elara’s library and impressive collection of books. It’s a daunting place, with shelves towering to the skies and complex texts that require a team Minikin just to carry, let alone interpret. Fortunately, Sir Archibald the IIII rises to the occasion. 

A (self-proclaimed) renowned scholar among the colonies, Sir Archibald prides himself on his intellect, which he claims rivals even the greatest big folk of the age. Seeing his fellow Minikin wallow in boredom, Sir Archibald took it upon himself to bring them new stories. And so, each year with the help of his trusty assistant, Timothy, Archibald chooses a single book from Elara’s shelves and interprets the story within. 

Whether Archibald’s interpretations of the big folks’ books are accurate is hard to say. But that hardly matters with how much fun his stories bring! The tradition started small. A simple reading session under the light of Elara’s desk lamps. Over time, word spread throughout the colonies, and the Minikin grew to appreciate these stories more and more. Eventually, the tradition blossomed into the Storybook Soirée, a grand celebration where the entire colony gathers to dress up, feast, and bring Archibald’s new story to life. And as long as there are books left on Elara’s shelves, the Minikin will never run out of tales to tell!
